WYK Launches LEAP in partnership with Medialab, Dentsu, Bicycle & Total Media
LEAP - Leadership Empowerment And Progression is a government funded up-skill programme aimed at uplifting early talent.
LEAP is a Government funded programme aimed at helping early careers talent achieve the next steps in their career progression:
We’ve worked with managers and talent teams from across the media industry to identify the barriers to career progression faced by early talent & designed a programme to break through them.
The goal is to unlock career potential by supporting participants with the development of essential skills that sit outside of technical knowledge.
We’ve identified three key pillars that form the basis for career progression in digital marketing, media and advertising:
Personal Effectiveness - To equip with essential skills for maximising productivity, building self-confidence and effectively managing responsibilities.
Interpersonal Skills - To develop ability to communicate effectively, collaborate with others and navigate professional relationships.
Workplace Navigation - To equip with skills needed to handle workplace dynamics, address challenges and contribute positively to a supportive and inclusive work environment.
The programme is being led by long term WYK collaborator, Kirsty Hulse, of Confidence Live fame. Trainees will receive 10 essential skill workshops as well as being matched with industry expert coaches to help them accelerate their career progression.
Rob Jackson, WYK Founder said
"WYK's mission has always been to make careers in digital marketing more accessible to under-represented young people. The LEAP programme allows us to take this one step further by supporting businesses as they on-board talent. We want to make sure that when people access this industry they are given a toolkit to thrive within it. Work from home policies since COVID 19 have benefitted many, but for early talent the experience can be counter-productive. We've designed LEAP to make sure our trainees have access to the essential skills needed to succeed in professional life, while supporting our employment partners at the same time"
The pilot programme launches with 60 early careers trainees from Dentsu, Medialab, Bicycle London & Total Media. With a sluggish jobs market impacting the digital marketing industry it is essential that organisations do everything possible to up-skills and better support their emerging talent.
